Taste appeal is everything for Galliker Dairy Co.'s Galliker's White Tea with Blueberry iced tea brand. Galliker delivers this "curb appeal" with full-body PVC shrink-sleeve labels from Seal-It Inc., a division of Printpack Inc.

The 10-color rotogravure-printed labels feature artwork of an Asian tea-set vignette on a background of pagodas and blueberry graphics.

The print graphics include the Galliker's name in prominent red color. Galliker markets the tea in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.

Reily Foods Co., New Orleans, LA, slow-roasts its new 100% premium Arabica coffee, marketed under the Luzianne Coffee brand, in small batches to ensure a bold taste without the bitterness typical of dark-roast coffees. House Blend: Coffee marketer may have the right flavor with HVRs

I recently had the occasion to visit Café El Marino in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. From its bustling plant in that seaport city, Café El Marino has become one of Mexico’s largest coffee producers in part because company General Director, Arturo Lizárraga Mercado, is a forward thinker. Mercado believes that one largely untapped opportunity in branding
is the cross promotion of related products. This is one approach, he believes, that could get products more into club stores and other high-volume retailers (HVRs).

Starbucks toasts brand extension

Starbucks Coffee Liqueur’s glass bottle is shaped as a cocktail shaker to extend Starbucks’ brand equity to after-dinner cocktails, winning the Glass Packaging Institute’s Clear Choice Award. Applied ceramic labeling is used to print the “Starbucks Coffee Liqueur” wording on the bottle’s waist. Saint-Gobain Container provides the 1-liter bottles and Anchor Glass supplies the 750-mL bottles.

Aluminum bottle creates new category

The resealable aluminum bottle comes to Latin America with Hot Hangover Tea. Innovacion Comercial en Alimentos S.A. de C.V. markets the beverage.

The bottle, from CCL Container, features a threaded plastic sleeve that is fitted to the top of the container to accommodate tamper-evident, resealable plastic caps and to heighten visual impact.

The lightweight aluminum bottle enables the marketer to create a new beverage category in Latin America with Hot Hangover Tea. The label’s rich red color and bold fonts position the product as an invigorating drink with herb extracts and amino acids that help reduce the unpleasant sensations associated with a hangover.

The bottle holds 8.4 oz of tea.

Shapely PET bottle fills niche in tea

Tradewinds Beverage Co. identified a gap between take-home and single-serve packages in ready-to-serve tea. It bridged the gap with a 1-liter, travel-friendly, clear PET bottle from Constar International.

The hot-filled bottle’s long neck recaptures the look of Tradewinds’ original 22-oz glass package and strikes a nostalgic chord with Tradewinds’ customer base.

Tradewinds is rolling out the distinctive bottle in four flavors of its kettle-brewed tea: Sweet Tea, Extra Sweet Tea, Green Tea, and Lemon Tea.

Restaging coffee for incremental growth

Nestlé Canada restaged its foodservice coffee in Canada by creating a new identity under two brands. Each has distinctive packaging, created by Anthem Worldwide.

Club Coffee is a premium brand and Good Host is a value offering. All packaging uses an adhesive lamination of polyester and polyethylene from Sonoco, which flexo-prints the film in six or seven colors.

Using black pouches featuring original paintings to signal craftsmanship, Nestlé Canada markets Club Coffee to fine restaurants and premium food and coffee shops. Good Host targets institutional resellers and cafeterias.

Travel wallet, sachets make tea portable

Teaology Tea offers an alternative to the tea bag with “on-the-go” portability in single-serve tea. Six wallet-size sachets each hold 8g of tea—enough to make six 16-oz drinks.

Consumers pour the sachet of tea into a glass of water, stir, and the drink is ready to consume. The sachets come in a recloseable paperboard “travel wallet” about the size of a checkbook. Their small size makes them pocket- and purse-friendly.
