Are Universal Design principles incorporated into your brand's package developed process?

In January, readers were also asked the following question. “How are you stabilizing or reducing packaging costs while still providing packaging that satisfactorily answers consumer and retailer demands?” Following are some of your answers.

“With the costs of all types of packaging increasing, new technologies are the only way to progress. Since these technologies (RFID, new composite barrier materials) also increase cost, at least you can realize advantages if you pick the new technologies that apply to your product. To really reduce costs in packaging, you almost always have to give something up.”

“We have used a standup pouch for a powdered laundry soap with easy-tear open with a notch and a slider closure to protect contents for later use. The lightweight pouch helps reduce shipping costs and also gives a good surface for graphic display while also showing the product inside.”

“I believe you can have success by knowing how to design a package, learning and knowing how and where to produce the packaging, knowing where to outsource the needed material.”

“In India, we are promoting palletized loads to the retail sector without corrugated cases to reduce the amount of packaging material used.”
